Omega goes diving with its new Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition model to save the seas.
Omega, which is very generous in allocating time and budget to social responsibilities, has been in cooperation with Nekton, a non-profit research organization that protects the oceans, since 2018. In line with this ongoing partnership, the brand will continue to support the "First Descent" project, which started in 2019 and consists of a series of tasks to explore and protect the Indian ocean, next year.
An approach greatly admired by OMEGA’s President and CEO, Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann, who sees clear parallels with Nekton and the watch company he leads. “Our friends at Nekton are protecting the ocean with the global goal of 30% protection by 2030. As a pioneering brand with a long history of pushing at the boundaries of what is possible, we have the utmost respect for this bold, confident vision, and we’re thrilled to help make the goal a reality“.
When it came to protecting the oceans, they decided that the most suitable model for this task was, of course, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M. The brand's flagship collection, Seamaster, has a significant place in Omega's story with the oceans. The Nekton team pays homage to Sir Peter Blake, a legendary Omega friend who devoted himself to protecting the seas, by naming the research submersible 'Seamaster 2'.
The laser-etched black ceramic (Zr02) dial of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition is decorated with matte finishes and shiny wave reliefs. The unidirectional Grade 5 titanium diving bezel is also laser-engraved. The case back features the submarine Nekton's embossed figure, the signature of the NAIADLOCK locking system, and the inscription Diver 300M, to praise the hard work of the foundation.
The model is powered by the Master Chronometer Caliber 8806. Decorated with arabesque Geneva waves motif, rhodium-plated rotors, and bridges METAS certified movement resists magnetic field up to 15,000 Gauss.
The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Nekton Edition meets the watch enthusiasts in two different options as an integrated black rubber strap and a stainless-steel bracelet.
