Omega released it’s Limited Edition model dedicated to the latest James Bond movie - “Spectre”. The question “ Who is the best actor in role of James Bond..? “ surely will get biased and different answers but we are pretty sure that this watch is definitely the best James Bond Limited Edition watch ever.
Normally I am not effected by the box sets however, this time the box set’s content can not be unmentioned. The box set includes a mighty sized and beautifully crafted box. The box has a coded lock, and as you may guess, the code is “007”. Push button release and the clips have a very high quality feel which makes your expectations about the watch boost like a rocket.
When you put the watch on your wrist you clearly see that your great expectations will definitely not end up with disappointment. 41Mm diameter case features both satin brushed and mirror polished parts. The proportion of the watch set so elegantly that makes me feel glad for seeing the over sized watches trend is finally losing it’s hip position. The markings on the bezel is divided in to hours instead of the highly seen divided in to minutes style. The bezel insert is made of Liquidmetal® treated ceramic and the bezel itself is uni-directional.
The dial is designed in matt black color. The hands set and the indexes feature an egg-shell type of color which nicely suits with the retro design. SuperLuminova is nice and glows yellow to green at dark. One of the important design features of the watch is it’s second hand. The second hand designed in “Lollipop” form paying tribute to the original 300M model while the standard version comes with an “arrow” form second hand.
The watch features double sapphire crystals on front and back with WR300M rating. Omega did not repeat the mistake of making the sapphires AR treated on both inside and outside. The front crystal has inside AR coating only avoiding the unpleasant scratched look of the AR coating happened after a short period of use. The transparent case back is a neat future as it allows the user to see the stunningly finished caliber.
The watch is powered with Omega’s in-house caliber 8400 which offers Co-Axial Escapement Design, 15000 Gauss magnetic field resistance and 60 hours of power reserve. As an Omega classic, the caliber is COSC certified. Our only negative comment goes to the date display. A date display design blending better with the dial’s overall looks will surely be a nicer detail.
The watch offers a black and gray striped Nato strap. This strap is not a kind of a strap that you can get thru Ebay but a very high quality one. It matches with the watch perfectly and offers optimum wearing comfort with durability.
The box set also features a matching stainless steel bracelet which easily differs from the standard ones with it’s all satin brushed finish. There is also a tool provided within the box set for bracelet/strap change. The perfectly matching bracelet is so perfect that we all wish Omega will switch to that bracelet with standard models as well.
The wrist presence and wearing comfort of the watch are all at highest level. Though I barely call “ 7007 pieces “ a limited edition, I should not deny the benefit of having the watch easily. The James Bond Edition watches are mostly considered to be marketing tricks but this time Omega clearly came up with a very successful watch.
