NOMOS Glashütte Tangente Sport Neomatik

NOMOS Glashütte, one of the successful representatives of the German design movement Bauhaus in the world of watches, is under the spotlight with its sporty model Tangente Sport Neomatik, which debuted at the Baselworld 2019.

Bauhaus movement, which combines the simplicity and functionality under the same roof, is not a popular style for the luxury watchmaking. This movement, which naturally is not compatible with traditional luxury watchmaking and its complications as well as its decorations, is carried to the wrists today under the leadership of NOMOS Glashütte, which is also from Germany.

Designed entirely with German engineering philosophy in mind, NOMOS Glashütte, whom watches have a unique fan base, do not forget to add new collections to its product line. Tangente Sport Neomatik, which debuted at the Baselworld 2019, draws attention with its sporty details as well as its brilliantly designed metal bracelet.

The model, which shares the brand’s Tangente platform, comes with a case measuring 42mm in diameter and 10.9mm in height. The comfortable case, designed with the typical NOMOS Glashütte philosophy, draws attention with its water resistance to 1000 feet (about 300m). Despite this value, which can handle much more than daily use, there is no one-way rotating bezel on the model. Therefore, it would be wrong to call the NOMOS Glashütte Tangente Sport Neomatik a diver watch.

A slightly domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides serves on the front side of the case. The case back, which is fixed to the case with miniature screws, is also equipped with a see-through display. Thick and edgy crown guards protect the elegant winding crown on the case, which is accompanied by fine lugs. Let me add that, those crown guards, which offer an incompatible image not only to the case but also to the whole design, are also my only criticism about the model.

The model we have here has a dial with a black background. The dial, which successfully reflects the plain and functional design language of the brand, features phosphor applied hands and markers. Adding a nostalgic atmosphere to the dial with the small second indicator at 6 o'clock, NOMOS underlines the sporty theme with red accents.

The model is powered by the fully manufacture movement Caliber DUW 6101. The automatic movement, which operates at a frequency of 21600vph, offers up to 42 hours of power reserve time when fully wound, and can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display on the case back.

Undoubtedly, the most remarkable feature of the model is the stainless steel bracelet... Tributes to the 80s with its slim links, the bracelet is extremely comfortable on the wrist. At the end of the bracelet with satin finishes, an elegant yet very useful folding clip functions.
