Omega CK 859 Re-Edition Ref. 511.12.39.21.99.002

Omega is once again on the agenda of the watch world with a brand new model. The new model, added to the brand's "Specialties" product group, takes its place in Omega catalogs as a reproduction of the legendary Ref. CK 859 model from in 1939.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that the CK 859 is one of the most successful retro-inspired models introduced by Omega in recent years. Inspired by the historical model launched in 1939 and powered by the brand's legendary winding movement Caliber 30-T2, the  CK 859 Re-Edition is among the top modern watches that can genuinely excite watch lovers. Even more pleasing is that this new model does not belong to families such as the Seamaster or Speedmaster, which became almost synonymous with the brand today. On the contrary, it is under the Specialties product group, which includes the most exclusive models from Omega.

The CK 859 Re-Edition is one of the rare models that managed to impress me without even seeing the (historic) Omega logo on the dial or knowing its technical features. Complementing the classic case structure of the 1930s with a dial divided into sectors and crowning it with small seconds are all very exciting. On top of that, when this new model came from Omega, I can say that my belief that I am facing one of the most successful novelties of recent years has been reinforced.

The stainless steel case measures 39mm x 11.7mm x 46.2mm and offers the ideal combination in terms of both size and material. On the front of the case, there is a curved and anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal, and on the back, there is a steel cover with a flat sapphire crystal display. The elegant case, which reminds its users to be careful about contacting water with its 30m waterproof value, offers the perfect harmony of matte and glossy surfaces. The 20mm lug-width, I'm sure, already brings different strap alternatives to many watch lovers' minds.

The dial of the stylish model pays homage to the original model with its sector-style design applied on a 925 sterling silver plate. The small seconds counter positioned at 6 o'clock refers to the vintage Ref. CK 859. The blued sword-style hands accompanying the dark markers and scales make us watch lovers smile not only with their positive contribution to legibility but also as stylish details that complement the retro character of the model.

Ref. CK 859, which inspired the new model, revealed the brand's technical capabilities at that time, with the Chronometer certified Caliber 30-T2 movement at its heart. Following the trace left by its predecessor in the world of the watches, the new model also hosts a hand-wound caliber equipped with superior technological features. The modern Omega CK 859 Re-Edition works with the in-house Caliber 8926 movement, which is crowned by the Master Chronometer certificate that attracts attention with its new perspective brought to industry standards. The Caliber 8926, based on the modern 89XX platform, used for the first time in the De Ville Trésor model, operates at 3.5Hz (25.200vph), the characteristic frequency of the Co-Axial escapement architecture, and offers a power reserve of 3 days/72 hours when fully wound thanks to its twin-barrel system. The 29-jewel movement also provides a magnetic resistance of 15000 Gauss, thanks to its materials produced with new generation technologies, especially the silicon hairspring.

The stylish model comes on a brown calfskin strap decorated with side stitches at the ends. The strap, which beautifully completes the vintage theme of the model, is fastened to the wrist with an Omega signed steel pin buckle. Although Omega does not use the term Limited Edition for the new model, each model produced carries its own unique serial number. This makes us think that the model will remain in production for a certain period. Therefore, watch lovers who consider adding the model to their collection should act quickly.

The MSRP of the model, which has not yet been informed about the date it will reach the sales points, is EUR 6800.
