On the occasion of the 2022 Laureus World Sports Awards held in Seville, Spain, IWC Schaffhausen introduced the Portofino Chronograph 39 Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” model, designed to highlight the support Laureus Sport for Good has undertaken worldwide.
The new model, which is the 16th edition launched by the brand in cooperation with the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, is limited to only 1000 pieces.
Before moving on to the model, let's remember the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and its general purpose. Continuing its activities in more than 50 countries, the foundation aims to change the lives of children and young people by using sports, with more than 250 programs it supports around the world. In addition, it puts promoting social change and ending violence and discrimination among its main goals.
The Laureus World Sports Awards are the premier global sports award honoring the best athletes, athletes, and teams in all sports each year. Candidates are selected by a panel of more than 1300 representatives from the global sports media world. Award winners are voted on by the ultimate sports jury, Laureus World Sports Academy, a collective of 71 living sports legends who voluntarily give their time to support the organization.
The engraving of the winning work in the drawing competition organized by IWC every year within the scope of all Laureus programs is on the back of the model designed for that year. Created by this year's winner, 15-year-old Jatin Malhan, the drawing depicts equally joined hands.
The case of the new model, designed with a diameter of 39mm and a height of 12.8mm, is made of stainless steel. The case, which has a domed sapphire crystal glass with an anti-reflective coating on the front, has an engraving of the winning work in the drawing competition organized by IWC this year, on the back cover of the case.
The automatic chronograph Caliber 79350 is under the dial prepared in the blue tone that is identified with the collection. The stylish model comes on a black calf leather strap.
