Here we are with the Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial 424.53.40.20.04.002 from the brand’s novelties designed exclusively to commemorate the De Ville Collection’s 50th anniversary. The model, which was introduced as a member of brand’s Baselworld 2017 novelties, attracts attention with its white enamel dial and 18K white gold case.
Since 1967, when the De Ville Collection was first introduced to the market, it has been the flagship of the brand for a long time. Although this is no longer the case with the impact of changing demands and trends, the De Ville Collection continues to be one of Omega’s most important product groups with its classic and elegant designs.
Nowadays, the brand’s best sellers are the Speedmaster and Seamaster collections but De Ville Collection keeps being a very important product line for the famous brand as well. Let’s take a look at the Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial model produced for the 50th Anniversary of the classic collection.
The model comes in an 18K white gold case measuring 39.5mm in diameter which is, even today, approaching the upper limits for a modern dress watch. The collection includes three versions as 18K white, yellow and pink gold. Today, we have the 18K white gold version. The case is equipped with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, which is domed to match with the retro concept, on the front face and a solid caseback on the rear face adorned with a gold figure of the Greek god Chronos. The case is water resistant to 30 meters.
The dial of the new model is also retro inspired in terms of design and material. Made of white enamel with glossy finish that evokes vintage pocket watches, the dial bears Arabic numeral hour markers (finished in red at 12) and a date display window at 6 o’clock. The minute scale is designed like a railway which tribute to the brand’s famous railroad watches.
The model is powered by the brand’s in-house Omega Co-Axial Caliber 2500. Self-winding movement beats at 4Hz and offers 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial (Ref.424.53.40.20.04.002) is offered on a dark gray alligator strap that is secured by an Omega signed folding clasp made of 18K white gold like the case. For the Omega De Ville Prestige Co-Axial model, it’s hard to say that it will fit in almost any environment and style as an everyday wearer as the design of the model is entirely in line with the classic dress watch type.
