Chopard is crowning the legendary Mille Miglia auto race, which is held for the 40th time this year and of which it is not only a brand partner but also an official timekeeper and participant for a long time, with a pair of limited production models.
Before moving on to the model, let's take a look at the history of the iconic race of motorsports, Mille Miglia. The rally, which is among the most famous historical automobile races in the world, was initially held on a course of 1,618 km, which starts and ends in Brescia, Italy, with Rome marking the turning point. After ending in its original racing format in 1957, the 1000 Miglia was reinstated in 1977 as a test of time and reliability for cars produced between 1927 and 1957. The current course of the legendary race still travels 1,000 miles, following much of the original route through the heart of Italy from Brescia to Rome and back.
Chopard and its Co-Chair, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, have been partners in this special event since 1988, not only as a sponsor and timekeeper but also as a participant.
The new series consists of two different versions (limited to 250 pieces) with stainless steel (limited to 1000 pieces) and stainless steel case with a crown made of 18K Ethical Gold material, a button set, and a bezel. The 44mm diameter and 13.79mm high case is home to classic racing chronograph details such as the tachymetric bezel dial and a set of piston-style pushers. The case, which has a sapphire crystal with a magnifying part on the front face and an embossed cover on the back, is waterproof up to 100 meters.
Both models are accompanied by dials that share the same silvery background. The dials, which host components produced according to the case color, come in Tri-Compax Chronograph format. The dials, which can be read quickly and effortlessly thanks to Super-LumiNOVA filled hands and indices, also have a date window at 3 o'clock.
The new series takes its power from the Valjoux 7750-based automatic chronograph movement. The 25 jewels and COSC-certified movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers up to 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The limited-edition models are complemented by a perforated calfskin brown strap and a stainless steel folding clasp. Prices and reference information are as follows;
