Omega, an undisputed co-worker of Olympics, became the official timekeeper of the 2018 Winter Olympics to be organized in South Korea’s Pyeongchang area. The brand introduced the latest model of this collaboration Omega Planet Ocean PyeongChang 2018 Edition to the likes of the watch enthusiast.
The model, which is limited to 2018 units only, comes in a stainless steel case measuring 43.5mm in diameter. The bezel is made of Omega’s patented Liquidmetal material and the first 15 minute part is coated with red rubber. The case is equipped with a Helium Release Valve at 10 o’clock and it is water resistant to 600 meters.
The model features a glossy blue dial made of ceramic that is accompanied with matching red accents. Having placed the date window in the 3 o’clock position, Omega managed to maintain the integrity of the dial by using the same background color date disk with the dial surface.
When we turn the back side of the model, there is "PyeongChang 2018" and the Olympic logo. At the same time, the movement can be enjoyed thanks to the sapphire display caseback. 39 jewels self-winding Caliber 8900 is on duty, which operates at 25,200 and provides 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement is METAS certified for impact and magnetic resistance.
The new model, which comes in an exclusive box set, is offered on a blue rubber strap with red accents. MSRP is 6950, 00 USD (US list).
