Omega brings a new breath to the luxury diver's watch concept with the 18K Sedna Gold model, which is available under the Seamaster Diver 300 Chronograph, one of the brand’s flagship product groups.

If we call the Seamaster Diver 300M the most successful collection of Omega, I am sure that many watch enthusiasts will support us. The model, which was introduced in 1998 and used in the James Bond film series of the period, was a turning point for the Omega Seamaster model family.

Strengthening its place in the luxury tool watch segment with the updates and technological improvements it has seen over the years, the model is among the most demanded product groups of the brand today. The model family, ranging from three-handed quartz models to GMT and Chronograph models, is under the spotlight with one of the top models of the series, the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph in 18K Sedna Gold.

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M model family is not distant to the chronograph feature. However, the series, introduced in 2019, is the first to host the chronograph function prepared in the Bi-Compax layout. If we put this feature aside, it is possible to say that the new chronograph shares the same technical and visual specs with its three-handed versions.

The version we selected for review comes with a 44mm diameter case. The case is made of 18K Sedna Gold, the brand's patented gold alloy. The model, which feels very heavy on the wrist due to the specific weight of gold, is successfully balanced on the wrist with a black rubber strap and Sedna Gold buckle. Although gold watches are heavy due to the nature of the metal, I have never heard any gold watch owner complain about the weight.

There are sapphire crystals on both sides of the case. The elements accompanying the case, which is water-resistance to 300 meters, create the eye-catching appearance of the model. The diver bezel with a 60-minute scale on the front of the case is made of 18K Sedna Gold alloy. Matte black ceramic is used on the insert, which creates a perfect contrast with the bezel. The chronograph pushers on both sides of the crown are also produced using black ceramic material. 18K Sedna Gold was used for the winding crown and the locking mechanism of the pushers.

The contrast, which was adopted as the main idea for the design of the model, continues on the dial. The hands and markers are made of gold in the dial, which features a glossy black wave pattern and sub-dials in the same tone on a matte anthracite background. The white font on the date disc hidden in the 6 o'clock marker displays an appearance in harmony with various dial inscriptions, also prepared in white.

The new model uses the Caliber 9901 from the 99XX movement family, which serves almost the entire Omega product range. The METAS certified automatic chronograph movement, which we are also familiar with from the Bi-Compax Speedmaster models, offers up to 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound and provides magnetic resistance up to 15,000 Gauss. The movement, which makes a strong impression with its solid gold rotor, can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display case back.

The model comes with a black strap made of high quality and soft silicone. The strap is secured to the wrist by a standard type buckle made of gold and is very comfortable on the wrist. Besides providing design integrity with the contrast it creates, it also prevents the sporty character of the watch from remaining in the shadow of the solid gold material.

As a user who loves gold sports watches, I like the model a lot. I think the quality of the materials used, the visual harmony and the specific tone of the 18K Sedna Gold alloy offer a perfect harmony. In the meantime, let me give a very important detail about the watch; You can just walk into an Omega boutique and actually buy the watch... They don't put your name on a list or something... Why? Because there is no waiting list at all. Also, nobody tells you that you have to buy a pair of gold cufflinks that you will unlikely ever wear just because you bought the watch. You do not have to buy a watch for your spouse or girlfriend -at the list price-, which will make you blind with the sparkle of its diamonds either.

Have a nice weekend everyone... ;)
