Among its 2021 innovations, Omega also included Velcro straps designed for the legendary model family Speedmaster Moonwatch.
The new Velcro straps, inspired by the Velcro straps used in the Moon missions, come in three different themes. Designed in black, silver, or white, the straps are made of durable polyester material.
The black strap represents the darkness of space and is the closest to the original strap worn by astronauts who set foot on the Moon. The silver version is inspired by the silver spacesuit the astronauts wore on pre-Apollo missions Gemini and Mercury. The white strap, on the other hand, pays homage to another event that has an important place in Moonwatch's past; Alaska Project. Alaska Project was a secret program run in collaboration with Omega and NASA to create the ultimate space watch. The white Velcro strap highlights this special occasion.
The list price for each of the straps is 190 CHF.
