Oris, which has made a name for itself with its nature-friendly social responsibility projects, also includes a special model designed for the Swiss air-rescue team Rega, among the novelties of 2021.
Known for its air-rescue operations in the harsh conditions of the Swiss Alps, Rega is among the most successful organizations of its kind with its high-tech equipment as well as its expert personnel.
Rega operates a 21-vehicle fleet of 18 helicopters and 3 fixed-wing aircraft in total. The team, which created wonders with a total of 16,273 successful missions last year, also has a YouTube channel that includes many details about their outstanding work.
Although the model dedicated to this particular organization is based on the Oris ProPilot platform, it immediately distinguishes itself from its standard variants with many version-specific details.
The new model comes in a 41mm diameter stainless steel case with gunmetal PVD coating. The case, which is equipped with a pulsometer bezel also coated in gunmetal, has an AR-coated sapphire crystal on the front, and a theme-specific decorated solid cover on the back. By the way, speaking of the case back; Oris designed separate case backs for a total of 21 aircraft under Rega. These 21 types of watches, each of which are limited to 100 pieces, form a limited edition collection of 2100 pieces in total.
The stylish model hosts a dial with large numeral indices and thick hands on a matte black background. While the white Super-LumiNOVA filled components maximize the legibility of the dial, the red Rega logo and plane detail on the tip of the GMT hand, bring the thematic character of the model to the fore. There is also a date window at the 3 o'clock position of the dial.
The Oris 798 movement gives life to the limited model. The automatic movement, based on Sellita SW330-1, offers a power reserve of up to 42 hours when fully wound.
The model comes on a black leather strap that is fixed to the wrist with a gunmetal PVD coated steel folding clasp. The model, which includes an extra red rubber strap and a strap changing tool in the box set, is planned to reach sales points as of September 2011. The list price for the model is CHF 3,100.
