Oris, one of the few independent brands in the entry-level league, introduced the new Oris Movember 2018 Edition, which is exclusively designed for the Movember Foundation – the world’s leading men’s health charity that tackles some of the biggest health issues facing men.
The Movember Foundation, founded to draw attention to and fight against the main factors that threaten men’s health, such as prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and suicide cases, has been operating since 2003. The organization, which aims to support the health projects that it carries out throughout the world with the activities organized in November every year, also offers enjoyable events with the participation of celebrities from the world of sports, art and fashion.
Oris, which is among the rising stars of the luxury watchmaking industry, especially at the entry level, is among the brands that support this foundation. For the first time in 2017, Oris has become one of the supporters of the organization with the Movember 2017 Divers Sixty-Five model introduced in the same year. The brand, which will transfer a certain portion of the revenue generated from every Oris Movember 2018 Edition model sold, aims to reach a total of 100,000 CHF amount with the sales of the new Oris Movember 2018 Edition.
The new model is based on the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date model, which is among the innovations introduced by Baselworld this year. Oris Big Crown Pointer Date, designed by the brand in 1938 and reinterpreted in 1984, is a retro-styled model that attracts attention with its central crescent-shaped date hand.
The Oris Movember 2018 Edition is based on the larger edition of this model family, with a 40mm case made of satin-finished and polished stainless steel. In the model, where the signature details like the knuckled bezel, the oversized crown and pointer date feature is present, matte black dial with 4N gold-plated hands, gilt inscriptions and markings and faux-patina Luminova for the hands and hour indexes are preferred.
The case is equipped with inner AR coated and domed scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is water-resistant to 50 meters / 5 bars.
The new model is offered on an exclusive leather strap. The strap is made of aged-look leather and decorated with embossed mustache figures which is the symbol of the Movember Foundation.
The Oris Movember 2018 Edition is powered by the Sellita based Caliber Oris 754. Self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a 38-hours power reserve when fully wound.
The list price for the model is CHF 1,800.
