Oris’s "Change for the Better" mission continues with its collaboration with the Roberto Clemente Foundation.
Being an independent watch manufacturer has the great advantage of being able to do what you believe is right. This can sometimes be a new model, sometimes a new movement or an innovation that meets the needs of users… Most of the time, it means the freedom to take steps that will change someone's world by listening to the voice of your heart.
Here is one of the brands that use this freedom to the limits, Oris. The brand, which gathered the projects it worked on under the title of 'Change for the Better' a few years ago, partnered with non-profit organizations from all over the world and contributed to the environmental movement. Now, Oris is introducing its new partnership with the humanitarian aid organization Roberto Clemente Foundation, named after the baseball player Roberto Clemente and managed by his family, to watch lovers.
Roberto Clemente, who received many awards and had his name written in golden letters in the history of baseball, was born in Puerto Rico in 1934. Faced with discrimination for his skin color, Clemente was loved not only for her professional career but also for her benevolence and activism.
In 1972, Nicaragua was shaken by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake where 11 thousand people lost their lives and 300 thousand people lost their homes. The athlete, who participated in community work throughout his career, sent aid but noticed that his help had been stolen by corrupt local officials. Clemente, insisting on escorting the next shipment to make sure that aid reaches the people who need it most, got on the plane on December 31 and headed for the disaster area, but his plane crashed into the sea and his body was never found. However, his valuable name continues to live in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Roberto Clemente Foundation, founded in 1993 by his wife Vera and his son Luis Clemente.
The Roberto Clemente Limited Edition, which belongs to Oris's Big Crown collection and is limited to only 3000 pieces, comes in a 40mm diameter stainless steel case. The watch has an anti-reflective coating on the inside of the curved sapphire crystal. The case, which is resistant to water pressure up to 50 meters, has exclusive engravings on the screwed steel case back.
The black, white, and gold detailed design of the dial is inspired by the uniform of the precious athlete. The hands and markers are Super-LumiNOVA applied. A central hand indicates the date function.
Oris Roberto Clemente Limited Edition is powered by the automatic movement Oris 754 that provides 38 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
Offered with a price tag of CHF 1,850, the model is complemented by an additional NATO strap and a light brown leather strap.
