Ref. PAM00737, which is one of the two Panerai models which will be auctioned in a special event today jointly organized with the non-governmental organization TURMEPA that is known for its efforts to protect marine life in Turkey, attracts attention with its exclusive engraving.

Istanbul will welcome a very special event for the world of horology. A 200 pieces limited edition timepiece by Panerai one of the leading brands of the watch industry will be auctioned in a special event today jointly organized with the non-governmental organization TURMEPA that is known for its efforts to protect Turkey’s seas and marine life. The most important detail about the event is the exclusive engraving on the watch which will be sold tonight. The timepiece bears an engraving of “FOR OUR SEAS” on its case which emphasizes the purpose of the event and makes that sample different from the other 199 units. Let’s see who will own this special watch.

We wanted to examine Panerai Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days GMT Titanio - 44mm PAM00737, which is a new flagship of the series, from the new models with green dials included in the current product group of Italian famous brand in the past.

We would like to have a detailed review of the model Panerai Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days GMT Titanio - 44mm PAM00737, which is known as the flagship model of the recently released green dial models, before the event. Please click here to go to our article about the new green dial models which are based on existing references from the brand’s current product line.

The model is offered in a Luminor 1950 style case measuring 44mm in diameter. The case is made of titanium and mostly finished in matt except the fixed bezel on the front side. Sporting scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides (domed on the front side), the case is water resistant to 100 meters. Mono-pusher is located at 8 o’clock position while the unique crown guard takes its place at 3 o’clock.

Like many Panerai enthusiasts, I also believe that the Luminor 1950 case style is the perfect design which reflects the brand’s DNA most successfully. I also think that 44mm diameter is the best version for this stylish design.

The model’s dial is finished in a beautiful green tone with red gold and black accents. Designed in Sandwich style, the dial features the phosphor disk finished with darker SuperLuminova which nicely fits with the retro style of the dial.

Designed in a Bi-Compax chronograph format, the sub-dial is located at 9 o’clock combines the small seconds and AM / PM indicators. In the sub-dial placed at 3 o’clock, a 30-minute counter belonging to the chronograph feature is added. The linear power reserve indicator, also identified with the Panerai brand, is located at the 6 o’clock position.

The dial, which offers a fairly simple and clear image for a model that can be considered rich in terms of function, has produced a very stylish image with the effect of the brilliantly prepared color palette.

The model is powered by the brand’s in-house Caliber P.2004. Hand-wound movement beats at 4Hz and offers an impressive power reserve of 8 days thanks to its triple barrel system. The movement bears a mono-pusher chronograph function along second time zone display, AM/PM indicator and a linear power reserve indicator. The 29 jewels movement can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display caseback.

As far as we know, the all of the 200 units produced are all sold. For the watch to be sold in the auction tonight, it is safe to say that it’s the last one of the series. Considering the engraving detail, we believe the auction will welcome quite a bit of competition.

PAM00716, one of Panerai’s other exclusive models, is the other model that will be offered for sale through the auction in the event. All proceeds from both sales will be donated to TURMEPA.
