Panerai was the guest of our Hands One corner with the Luminor 1950 PCYC Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio - 47MM that was launched this year as a part of a three piece collection exclusively designed for the PCYC (Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge).
Angelo Bonati, the legendary CEO of the famous Italian origin brand, is a true fan of sailing. As a result of his passion, Panerai is sponsoring the PCYC (Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge) since 2004. The organization is Open only to yachts built of wood or metal before 1950 (known as “vintage yachts”) and before 1976 (“classic yachts”), as well as several replica yachts. The brand launched a new collection of three models in order to celebrate this year’s challenge. We have the flagship model here for review: Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio - 47MM (Ref.PAM00652).
The new model comes with a Luminor 1950-style case measuring 47mm in diameter. The titanium case sports an AR coated domed sapphire crystal on the front side and a solid titanium caseback at the rear side featuring Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge inscription and a classic yacht illustration. The case is equipped with the classic Panerai style crown guard and it is water resistant to 100 meters.
The model’s dial is finished in black with vintage patina colored hands and indices with matching SuperLuminova phosphor material filling in order to match with the retro concept. Designed in Bi-Compax lay out with two sub-counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, the dial also features the PCYC logo at 6 o’clock and a pair of inner scales used for measuring the yachts’ speed in Knots.
Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio - 47MM is powered by the brand’s manufacture movement Caliber Panerai Ref. P.9100 / R. Developed by Panerai’s in-house automatic chronograph caliber platform, the movement beats at 28800vph and offers a power reserve of 72 hours when fully wound. 37 jewels self-winding movement consists of 328 individual pieces and features Flyback chronograph and Regatta Timer functions along time keeping.
The new model is offered on a 26/22mm brown Assolutamente calf leather strap. The strap is secured with a Panerai signed standard buckle made of titanium.
