Panerai makes platinum, one of the ultra-luxury materials of the watch world, both stronger and more valuable with its new Platinumtech Luminor Marina Limited Edition.
The famous Italian origin brand takes this precious metal one step further with a new alloy prepared by Laboratorio di Idee, where Panerai develops cutting-edge technology materials and techniques.
Platinum, which is among the materials rarely used by the brand, is a special alloy used in models that are considered the flagships of luxury watchmaking. Panerai increases this special material's physical properties and resistance to abrasive effects with the techniques it has developed under its own roof. This new material, Platinumtech, enters the luxury watchmaking industry with the new welcomes the new Panerai Platinumtech Luminor Marina Limited Edition (PAM01116), limited to 70 pieces only.
Designed in Luminor Marina style, with a diameter of 44 mm and a thickness of 13.4 mm, the case uses Platinumtech material for almost every component, from the bezel to the main body, the 12-sided screw-in case back, and even to the brand's symbol detail the special crown protection bridge. Underneath the domed sapphire crystal is an olive-green tone “sandwich” dial with the Satine Soleil (sun-ray) pattern. Beige Super-LumiNOVA filled numerals and baton indices are accompanied by a balanced layout with a date window at 3 o'clock and a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock.
The model beats with the manufacture Caliber P.9010. The automatic movement, which offers a power reserve of 72 hours / 3 days when fully wound thanks to its double-barrel winding system, can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display with the inscription emphasizing the game-changing 70-year warranty.
The watch comes on a brown alligator strap with ecru contrast stitching and trapezoid buckle as well as a second strap option together with a screwdriver, also made from Platinumtech, to easily change the strap and buckle.
