Panerai's new limited Submersible model, Azzuro 42MM Limited Edition, brings Italian aesthetics to the wrists with a black dial and a blue ceramic bezel.
Panerai Submersible is among the most durable diving watches of the brand with its large luminescent markers and unidirectional bezel. Until recently, Submersible was meeting with us as part of the extensive Luminor collection, but as of 2019, it declared its independence as a "tool watch" collection on its own. Submersible Azzuro, the subject of our article, takes its name from the Italian word 'light blue'. The design of the new model is a blend of the black dial PAM00683, which was introduced at the beginning of last year, and the PAM00959 model featuring a blue ceramic insert bezel.
The Submersible Azzuro 42MM Limited Edition, which is limited to only 500 units, comes in a 42mm diameter AISI 316L steel case. The model, which has a blue unidirectional bezel, screwed case back, and iconic crown protection, reflects the brand's DNA down to the finest detail.
On the Azzuro's black dial, Super-LumiNOVA filled markers and hands that glow green and blue display the time. The small seconds counter is at 9 o'clock while the date window is at 3 o'clock.
The model beats with the automatic movement P.900, which we know from other Submersible watches, that provides a power reserve of 72 hours - 3 days when fully wound.
The Panerai Submersible Azzuro 42MM Limited Edition (PAM01209) comes on a black rubber strap and steel buckle highlighting the blue of the bezel. Panerai states that pre-orders have begun for the model, which will be available exclusively on the brand's e-commerce platform from September.
