Patek Philippe is undoubtedly one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to luxury watches. The brand, which is one of the most important representatives of traditional watchmaking worldwide, is a name that has fitted hundreds of different models to its glorious past. However, especially in the last decade, its name has become known only with the Nautilus model family. Fortunately, the female fans of PP do not fall into this hard-to-explain trend as much as men.

The model we have here for the review is designed exactly for this user profile. The Gondolo collection follows the Art Deco trend, which is almost as old as the brand itself yet as permanent as well. The collection, which claims that watch shapes should not be limited to round designs, is the guest of our review corner with its Ref. 7099G-001 model, which attracts attention with its Tonneau form case.

Patek Philippe 7099G-001 Blue Gondolo comes in an18K white gold case measuring 29.6 x 38.9 x 8.94mm. One of the most notable details of the model is that it has an intensive diamond setting, which is quite dominant in the case part. Extensive diamond-setting, called Iced-Out in today's luxury watch jargon, can make the big men's' watches extremely unpleasant. However, the same situation is very different for elegant women's timepieces. Patek Philippe 7099G-001 Blue Gondolo is one of the finest examples in this regard. There are a total of 480 (~ 3.31 ct) diamonds on the bezel and sides of the case. The case, with sapphire crystals on both sides, can withstand 30 meters of water pressure.

Another part where superior craftsmanship meets diamonds is the dial. The dial, accompanied by a blue inner frame, blue cabochon hour markers, and blue leaf-style hands, designed following the blue theme that gave the model its name, is dazzling. There are 367 diamonds (~ 0.56 ct) in the dial, decorated with floral patterns created using the Guilloché technique, hand-engraved on an 18K gold plate.

The elegant model ticks with the in-house Caliber 25‑21 REC movement. 18 jewels hand-wound movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28800vph) and offers 44 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

The 7099G-001 Blue Gondolo, which was the guest of our Hands-On corner, almost restores our faith in humanity nowadays, when Patek Philippe associates with a few models despite its glorious heritage and elegance not being the priority for most of the women's timepieces.
