Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar (Ref. 5236P-001)

Patek Philippe presented the second part of the 2021 novelties to watch lovers with a live press release featuring the brand's CEO, Thierry Stern. Among the novelties, the most striking model was undoubtedly the Ref. 5236P-001 equipped with the perpetual calendar feature. The brand, which is one of the first to come to mind in traditional watchmaking in terms of calendar functions, includes a panoramic in-line display in its new model.

The new model comes in a case measuring 41.3mm in diameter and 11.07mm in height. The case, made of Grade 950 platinum alloy, with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides, can withstand water pressure up to 30 meters.

Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5236P-001 hosts a gradient dial crafted in black/navy blue tones on a brass base. Designed with a vertical satin surface form, the dial is accompanied by applique markers and baton hands made of gold. The most striking detail on the dial is the panoramic indicator that gathers the calendar function’s indicators in a straight line. Inspired by the brand's pocket watches with in-line calendar displays, produced for the US market, the indicator displays the day, date, and month functions. The dot at 4 o'clock shows the leap year cycle, while the other dot at 8 o'clock acts as a day/night display. The small seconds counter placed at 6 o'clock is also home to the moon phase indicator.

The new model is powered by the Caliber 31-260 PS QL, which was designed and manufactured in-house. The micro-rotor automatic movement, based on the Caliber 31-260 REG QA used in the Ref. 5235 Annual Calendar Regulator model, introduced in 2011, operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers up to 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement, consisting of 55 jewels/503 pieces, can be viewed through the sapphire crystal display case back.
