Piaget adds a new version to its cult model family in the sport-chic segment. The limited edition model, which stands out with its green theme, differs from the previous models with its new dial pattern featured for the first time in the collection.
Before moving on to the new model, let's take a brief look at the history of the Piaget Polo concept. Introduced by the brand for the first time in 1979, Polo began its adventure as an extra ordinary model that combined Piaget's deep experience in both watches and jewelry with the sport-chic trend of the period. Designed by Yves G. Piaget, one of the fourth generation members of the Piaget family, the model was dazzling with its metal bracelet, which offered an integrated structure not only in form but also visually, and with its ultra-thin Caliber 7P quartz movement, which was considered an extremely advanced technology at that time. The model, which became one of the iconic designs of the 80s, became a "best-seller" by providing 1/3 of all sales of the brand.
Having displayed a fluctuating graphic with its different versions until today, Polo embarked on a journey from Piaget's dusty archives to the brand's design studio, under the influence of the rapidly shining star of the sport-chic concept. When the calendars showed 2016, we met a modern, dynamic, and masculine Piaget Polo. The new generation Polo S concept, which started with three-handed models, continued to expand with chronograph versions over time. Not indifferent to the relentless rise of the luxury sports watch concept, the well-established brand soon hosted versions with 36mm diameters for ladies, as well as different dial colors.
The newly added model to the collection comes with a 42mm diameter and 9.4mm thick case. The sporty case promises a comfortable and more compact experience on the wrist with the effect of the thick bezel and expertly crafted chamfers. The case, which has sapphire crystals on both sides, is waterproof up to 100 meters following the sporty character of the model.
One of the distinguishing features of the stylish model is the emerald green dial, which also hosts a new pattern. This pattern, which replaces the uniform transverse lines that we remember from the past versions of the model family, adds a different presence and extra depth to the dial. Other details, on the other hand, consist of the soon-to-be classic design elements of the model family.
At the heart of the stylish model is the brand's manufacture Caliber 1110P. The movement, which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back, offers extremely stylish and elegant details, as expected from a brand whose special talents include designing ultra-thin movements. Measuring 25.58mm x 4mm, the automatic movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a power reserve of up to 50 hours when fully wound.
The new model is available on a green rubber strap featuring embossed horizontal lines following the dial. The strap, which is fixed to the wrist with the Piaget-signed folding buckle, offers both a comfortable and sporty experience. The strap, compatible with the brand's quick strap change system, also gives the green light to the use of extra straps designed with different colors and material alternatives.
The list price for the model, which will be limited to only 400 pieces each year, is USD 13,750.
