Rado HyperChrome Captain Cook, which is considered as the starting point of the model in our article, was presented to the attention of watch enthusiasts in Baselworld 2017 and collected great interest. The model, which we can say Rado’s answer to the Heritage trend, known for its simple and functional designs as well as the use of materials that defy aging effects of the time, received positive feedback with its design which refers to the 1960s. The model, which is one of the most interesting novelties from the brand in recent years, has recently acquired a new version.
The new model is offered in a Tonneau style case measuring 46.8mm x 48.3mm x 13.9mm. Unlike the HyperChrome Captain Cook version, the new model’s case is equipped with a screw-lock winding crown and is water resistant to 200 meters / 20 bars. The case features a box type sapphire crystal on the front side which mimics the hesalite crystals of 1960s. Manufactured from lightweight titanium alloy, the case promises a comfortable use with its almost non-existent lugs even on smaller wrists.
The dial of the model also offers details referring to the 1960s. All the symbols in the unidirectional inner rotating diver bezel are luminous. Also, the part that points to the first 15 minutes is finished in bright yellow. Contrast colored day and date indicator is positioned at 3 o’clock. Wide hands designed in sword style are also prepared in different colors so that you can easily distinguish them.
Rado Tradition Captain Cook MKIII is powered with the ETA C07.621 movement that we are familiar with from different brands in the Swatch Group. With an impressive 80 hour power reserve, self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 3Hz and is not influenced by factors that adversely affect the movements performance, such as friction and magnetic fields, thanks to the copper-nickel / zinc-based ARCAP alloy used in the escapement.
The new model is offered on a textile strap with contrast white stitching and available with a price tag of US $ 2550.
