When the calendars showed in 1969, Seiko rewrote the rules for the world of watchmaking with a revolutionary invention. The battery-operated movement with an accuracy of ± 5 seconds a month created a great excitement with its unprecedented precision. 50 years after from that movement and 7 years after the first Astron GPS, Seiko showed up with a series of new models equipped with innovative technology. Moreover, the watches come with an accuracy of ± 1 second per 100,000 years and a worldwide auto-time adjustment feature. Light is all you need to have these features as the Seiko Astron GPS Solar works with solar energy.

Seiko has been able to develop Astron GPS modules over the years to fit them in smaller and slim cases. Inspired by the lines of the original Astron model, the new cases look more comfortable, convenient and stylish than ever. The case, measuring 41.4mm x 13.3mm, is made of pink gold PVD coated stainless steel. The case is equipped with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front face. It is water resistant to 100 meters and magnetically shielded up to 4800 A / m.

The movement is the part that gets the best of the innovations. Manufacture Caliber 5X53 movement adjusts itself precisely upon reception of GPS signals twice a day. The accuracy of the movement that features AM / PM indicator dual time zone display with auto-adjustment function and perpetual calendar is ± 1 second per 100,000 years. If communication with GPS satellites is lost, the accuracy can down to ± 15 seconds per month, just like an ordinary battery-powered movement.

For the model, which is offered on a black silicone strap and is available with a price tag of € 2000, we will not be mistaken to call it a peak level advanced technology product. Stainless-steel case and bracelet versions are also available. So, no more excuses for the ones who have been cool towards the early Astron GPS models due to their large dimensions.
