Ressence Type 1 Squared X Time by Colour

Celebrating its 10th year in the industry, the boutique brand Ressence introduced its fourth edition within the X Collection.

Ressence, one of the unique names in the world of watches, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Equipped with the patented Orbital Convex System (ROCS) display system instead of the conventional hand display method, the Ressence timepieces make reading the time a visual feast. The system, which consists of sub-dials that are in constant motion, works just like the solar system.

The newly introduced 10th-anniversary model is based on the Type 1 Squared, the smallest in the family and the only model with a more traditional cushion-shaped case. Displaying time in an even more intuitive way, Ressence Type 1 Squared X Time by Color uses different colors to indicate different moments in a day.

All versions in the Collection X model family feature a special symbol derived from the letter X and an hourglass figure at the 10 o'clock position on their dials. This new model, designed for the 10th year, also uses the color element to represent different moments in a day. According to a study conducted by Professor Christopher Harvey of the department of neuroscience at Harvard, Ressence's way of displaying time is a much more natural and intuitive way of capturing the true dimension of time. Another result of his work is that colors are the easiest and fastest way for our brain to identify a moment in time.

Putting the theory into practice, Ressence brings together 48 colored ceramic balls to display the time at a glance. There are four different ball groups in yellow, gray, blue, and black, placed on a rotating sub-dial to indicate different moments of a day.

The new model comes in a 41mm diameter and 11mm thick cushion-shaped case. The case, made of ultra-light Grade 5 titanium alloy, is accompanied by a double domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and a sealed case back with a retractable lever for winding and adjusting indications.

The convex dial has a German silver base with olive green color featuring a concentrically brushed pattern. Three eccentric bi-axial satellites display hours, days of the week, and 'time by color' indications while minutes are applied on the periphery of the dial. Super-LumiNOVA, applied to the engravings on the dial, allows time to be read in dark environments.

The model houses the customized automatic Caliber 2894/2 based movement with an in-house patented ROCS 1 module. 40-jewels automatic movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers 36 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
