Rolex, who has been one of the most popular brands of Baselworld 2017 with its newly introduced models, was highly praised with the bijoux version of its nautical inspired collection Yacht-Master. The new model, which combines the best of luxury watchmaking and jewelry, was the guest of our Hands On corner.
The Rolex Yacht-Master 40, which came with the Osyterflex rubber bracelet and matte black Cerachrom bezel update, was added to the Rolex product range in 2015 and recognized as one of the most important innovations that brand has passed through. The brand which gave the green light to women users with the 37mm case version of the same model, welcomed a brand new version with a gem-set bezel.
The new model introduced at the Baselworld 2017 is quite similar with the first version launched in 2015. The 40mm case of the model is made of Rolex’s patented pink gold alloy 18K Everose. The case features a solid caseback and sports a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with AR coating under the 2.5X magnifier. Equipped with the Triplock winding crown, the case is water resistant to 100 meters. The case is accompanied with the Osyterflex rubber (in fact elastomer over metal frame) strap and Oysterlock folding clasp made of Everose as with the first version added to the Yacht-Master family in 2015.
The timepiece is powered by the brand’s in-house Caliber Ref. 3135. Self-winding movement is Superlative Chronometer certified like the other movements in the Rolex product line and equipped with high-end features like the blue Parachrom hairspring which is 10 times more durable than the conventional hairsprings against impacts and temperature changes. The movement is also accurate to a deviation of +/- 2 seconds per day.
The most important feature of the new model that separates it from the other versions in the collection is its gem-set bezel. The 18K Everose bezel’s insert features 32 sapphires, 8 tsavorites and 1 diamond.
I strongly suggest the model, which is a marvelous timepiece for woman with its concept that blends sportiness with the elegance of high jewellery, to be seen in person.
