Seiko continues to expand its Prospex model family, which has won hearts with its rich product options and superior price/performance capability, with a new automatic chronograph. The new model, added to the Speedtimer subgroup, seems to be appreciated with its deep blue dial color as well as its retro design.
The new model comes in a stainless steel case measuring 42.5mm x 15.1mm x 45.5mm. The sporty case, which is coated with a special surface hardening material due to its greater resistance to scratches, sports a large crown and a pair of piston-type chronograph pushers. The beautiful case, which has a curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the front and a steel cover with a crystal display on the back, is water resistant to 100 meters.
The new addition to the Prospex Collection hosts a reverse Panda-style dial with silver sub-dials on deep blue background. The dial, designed in Bi-Compax (with two sub-dials) chronograph style to emphasize the vintage inspirations of the model, takes on a sporty look with red accents. Another feature of the model, the date display, is viewed through the window hidden in the 6 o'clock marker.
Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Ref: SRQ043 draws its power from the Caliber 8R46 movement, which successfully represents the brand's experience in chronograph movements. As with every Seiko movement, the in-house designed and produced automatic chronograph movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a power reserve time of up to 45 hours when fully wound. The movement, which performs the start/stop/reset commands in a much smoother and more refined way with its column-wheel coordinator and vertical clutch architecture, can be viewed through the see-through case back.
Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Ref: SRQ043, added to the standard (not limited edition) product line, comes with a black calfskin strap as well as a three-piece metal bracelet. The list price for the model, which is planned to reach sales points by September 2022, is EUR 3,200.
