TAG Heuer introduced the new special edition model exclusively designed to commemorate Ayrton Senna, the Formula 1 legend.
Let's take a closer look at the new model, which highlights Senna's victory in the race held in Adelaide, Australia on November 3, 1991, bringing him the title of the youngest three-time world champion.
The model, designed on the Formula 1 platform, which is the entry-level model family of the TAG Heuer product group, comes with a 43mm diameter case. The sporty case made of black DLC coated and sandblasted stainless steel has a tachymetric bezel with Senna engraving and the characteristic letter S on the front. A screw-in winding crown and a set of chronograph pushers made of the same material with the case accompany a solid steel case back featuring an engraving emphasizing the new model’s exclusive theme. The sporty model is waterproof up to 200 meters.
Formula 1 Senna Special Edition, which is reminiscent of the black PVD coated Heuer models of the 1980s with its black theme, comes with a stylish dial with yellow and white accents. The background of the counters on the dial, designed in the Tri-Compax chronograph layout, is decorated with a pattern consisting of circles, referred to as "azurage" in watch terminology. Again, the Senna text and the letter S stand out at the counter located at 6 o'clock. White Super-LumiNova® filled hands and markers offer optimum readability in almost any environment. The date window is located at 4:30.
A quartz chronograph movement gives life to the sporty model. The movement features hours, minutes, small seconds, date, central chronograph seconds hand, and chronograph that can measure with the precision of 1/10 of a second.
The model, available for sale with a patterned black calfskin strap and folding buckle, is scheduled to reach TAG Heuer authorized sales points as of the second half of November 2021.
