TAG Heuer, one of the constant names of motorsports themed models, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the legendary model family last year and prepared limited edition models that summarize the half-century-long period of the model in 10-year intervals. The famous brand is under the spotlight once again with the newest versions added to the Monaco model family. TAG Heuer Monaco, one of the first names that come to mind among the watches with angular lines, carries a case with a diameter of 39mm, 1mm more compact than its predecessors. Considering how much difference such details make on the wrist, which seems insignificant on paper, we do not doubt that the new case is successful in terms of comfort. Apart from this detail about dimensions, it is possible to say that all the characteristic elements of the model are preserved. Box-type sapphire crystal on the front of the case, the case back fixed with miniature screws, and the trapezoidal-shaped chronograph buttons with rounded edges are available in this model as well. The water pressure resistance value of the case is also set to 100 meters.

Although there are three different versions in the collection, a total of two dial options are offered. Black and blue dials are accompanied by contrast white sub-dials, Super-LumiNOVA phosphor-filled baton-type hands/markers, and red chronograph hands. Another novelty of the new series is that the models are equipped with the Tri-Compax chronograph feature. A small-seconds counter is placed at 6 o'clock on the dial, but a different background color is not applied for the counter. In this way, the classic Bi-Compax look is also preserved. TAG Heuer's sensitivity to stick to the classic look of the model family while applying a functional update gets full marks from us.

The new models include the Caliber Heuer 02 movement, designed and produced by the brand in-house. The automatic movement, which features a 30-minute and 12-hour counter chronograph as well as hour, minute, small seconds, and date functions, offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours when fully wound. The movement, which refers to the motorsports spirit of the model with its darkened perforated rotor with red accents, can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back.

Another novelty about the model family welcomes us in the strap/bracelet section. TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph 39mm Caliber Heuer 02 Automatic models are available with a stainless steel bracelet along with the classic black leather strap/folding clasp combination.  Inspired by the models designed in the H form of the 70s, the bracelet combines both elegance and comfort with a TAG Heuer signed butterfly clasp. While October 2020 is planned for the black dial versions to reach the sales points, the blue dial versions are expected to be available in January 2021.
