Ulysse Nardin, which has strong historical ties with long sea voyages, collaborates with adventurous, eye-catching, passionate explorers, athletes and artists. Let us introduce you to three brand friends, who embody Ulysse's philosophy through dreams, ambition and courage.
We all know about the story of Ulysse Nardin, which starts with marine timepieces. The love of ‘exploration’ guided by courage and passion has been embroidered on the brand's formation codes. Adhering to its own philosophy, Ulysse Nardin’s collaborations with people are also encouraging those who are just entered and/or intend to enter this path to discover their inner Ulysse and create their own legends.
Free Diver Fred Buyle
Daylight, sea, and air. Fred Buyle is one of those who devoted his life to exploring underwater with his single breath, light, and camera. Thanks to the explorer's work, which has been underwater for more than 30 years, we can look at the Antarctic icebergs through the eyes of a killer whale, swim with sharks, and look at the shining sun 60m below the surface.
Buyle, who works without affecting the delicate underwater life, works to photograph the rare animals and conducts this process with biologists. The Belgian-born Fred Buyle, who can dive 60m with a single breath, specializes in meeting sharks, especially hammerheads, tigers and great whites without a cage in their natural environment.
Ben Thouard
Ben Thouard, who learned all about the oceans from his father, a sailor, and grew up in the south of France, was interested in surfing under the coaching of his big brothers. Thouard, who was interested in photography at the age of 15, studied photography in Paris, followed his dreams and traveled around the world taking photographs of the waves.
In recent years, Ben is considered as one of the leading photographers of tropical paradise called French Polynesia. His global success is also appreciated via magazine covers, advertising campaigns and award-winning photographs.
Ben Thouard spends much of his time today taking photographs of the waves and oceans shown in art galleries. Let me add that he has a 184-page book, which is a must to see.
Alessia Zecchini
Born in Rome in 1992, Alessia was a freelance enthusiast at the age of 13. After completing his first official course at the age of 16, she had to wait 18 years of age to enter the Apnea race.
In the women's category, Zecchini holds the world record of 113 meters of Constant Weight Apnea (CWA) and 250 meters of Dynamic Apnea (CMAS), which has won 16 gold medals at the World Championships and has set its name to 25 world records in almost all disciplines of freediving. The young athlete keeps exploring as the modern Ulysse with the Ulysse Nardin Lady Diver on her wrist.
