It would not be an exaggeration to say that the 2020s are a peak for concepts that emulate the past, such as vintage and retro. These concepts, which find their place in almost every element of life which includes design, have become not only trends in the world of watchmaking but also a phenomenon that inspires core product lines.

Tissot, one of the locomotive names of the Swiss watchmaking industry, is among the brands that offer vintage and retro-themed models in their current product group. The Tissot PRX model family, in which the brand was introduced in 2021, continues to revise the industry standards with its unrivaled price/performance ratio. The glorious past of the long-established brand also serves as an excellent source of inspiration for the new models envisioned to be included in the Heritage concept. Here we are with the newest vintage model family, the Sideral Collection, which came up from the dusty pages of this rich archive.

The 60s and 70s, which are considered the golden ages of design not only for the watch world but in general, continue to be a source of inspiration for many brands today. One of the models that left its mark on this unique period is the Tissot Sideral. The original collection is a model family from the times when the brand tried innovative materials. The collection, which left its mark in 1969 with its monoblock cases made of fiberglass material for the first time in watchmaking, is among the experimental product groups in which the brand used alternative materials such as wood and granite over time. The new Sideral Collection, from Tissot's 2023 novelties, combines the developing technologies of modern times and the brand's superior know-how.

The new models come in a Tonneau (barrel) style case designed with a diameter of 41mm and a height of 46.5mm. The sporty case is made of forged carbon, one of the favorite new-generation materials of the watchmaking industry, instead of the fiberglass used in the original model. Colored flakes in the forged carbon for the blue model only. The eye-catching case hosts a stainless steel bezel, a screw-in crown, and a screwed case back. The unidirectional bezel features a regatta-timer insert. The case, which is equipped with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides, gives the good news that it can stay on the wrist of the wearer all summer long, with a water resistance value of 300 meters.

The Tissot Sideral model family features dials with phosphorescent yellow, blue, or gray minute scales and red/green regatta timer sections on a black background. While the hour and minute hands provide the necessary contrast for legibility with their white color, the red second's hand adds a sporty stance to the overall design. The dial, which also includes the classic Tissot logo, has a date window at 3 o'clock. Thanks to the SLN phosphor-filled dial components, the time can be read effortlessly even in low-light environments.

The new models come to life with the brand's popular movement, the Powermatic 80. The movement, which maintains its leading position among entry-level automatic calibers with its 80-hour power reserve when fully wound, can also be viewed through the sapphire crystal display case back.

The stylish models are available on rubber straps, which are fixed to the wrist by a hole & pin fastening system, just like the classic Sideral models. The stylish strap is available in yellow, blue, and red.
