Started with the Heritage Black Bay model and continued with the addition of the in-house movements, Tudor has become the subject of one of the watch world’s most successful "return" stories. The brand also managed to be one of the most talked-about brands of Baselworld 2017 with their new Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel 79730 Date model.

All of the versions that the brand has designed since the first Heritage Black Bay model have the common point of vintage details. This feature, which was sometimes, highlighted by Tudor’s signature detail Snow Flake hands or sometimes with the darker tone Super Luminova phosphor material and aluminum insert bezel, was soon adopted by the watch enthusiasts providing the brand its most successful sales chart of its history. The newly added version of the family offers a very modern and dynamic image, without getting too far from the overall feel of the collection.

The most distinctive feature of the new model is its stainless steel bezel, which draws attention with its circular brushed surface. The triangle at 12 o’clock is decorated in red, offering a sporty look.

Another important feature of the new model is the date window located at 3 o’clock of the dial. Obviously, I cannot say that I am glad to see the "no date dial" concept, one of the most important elements that made me like the previous Heritage Black Bay versions, is not preferred on this new model. Leaving the legibility part aside, it is a reality that the date disguised with a black font on a white background spoils the unity of the dial. I do not know how much of the world’s watch users need the date function but, considering the fact that Rolex has added a magnifier to the 50th Anniversary version of a legendary model like the Sea Dweller for the first time in history, the demand should be pretty strong.

The dial of the new model, as well as the overall design, has traces of past Black Bay models. The dial featuring details from the BB Blue and BB Black versions sports silver hands and indices accompanied with white Super Luminova filling. While the color scheme mostly highlights the modern side of the new model, details like Snow Flake hand design and red font depth rating on the matt black dial tribute to the Heritage connection. At the end of the day, the dial suits with the sporty character of the watch achieved with the matt stainless steel bezel upgrade.

The new model is powered with the brand’s in-house Caliber Re. MT5612.The new movement, which is basically the time function added version of the MT5602, sports technological features like COSC certificate, 70h power reserve and a silicon balance spring.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay Steel 79730 Date is available for sale with Rivet style stainless steel bracelet and leather strap options. As in the past models, it is worth remembering that the box comes with a NATO-style (this time green) strap.
