Ulysse Nardin introduced the new Blast model with Flying Tourbillon.
Contrary to the Marine Chronometer concept, the Blast Collection is among the model families that represent the brand's not traditional, but future-oriented face. The newly added model to the product line, on the other hand, stands out with its two-tone theme consisting of 18K pink gold and blue PVD-coated titanium components, as well as its Flying Tourbillon-featured caliber.
The new model comes with a 45mm diameter and 13mm high case. Offering a striking appearance with its form consisting of wide facets, the case consists of components made of 18K rose gold and blue PVD-coated titanium. Sapphire crystals serve on the front and back of the case, which sports a large winding crown with the Ulysse Nardin logo. The sporty case, in which matte, glossy, and sandblasted surfaces are used together, offers resistance to 50 meters of water pressure.
Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon in Blue & Gold hosts a modern dial that centers on the X concept that the brand has included in many models in recent years. The double X mark and the rectangular bridges in the center come with a blue PVD coating following the concept. The wide hands made of rose gold and the thick hour markers enable the time to be read quickly and clearly in almost any environment from the dial, which seems a bit busy at first. The escapement, placed at 12 o'clock, draws attention with its indication highlighting the silicon technology introduced to the watch industry by Ulysse Nardin. At 6 o'clock is the Flying Tourbillon escapement, which gives the model its name.
Inside the new model, Caliber UN-172, designed and produced by the brand itself, serves. The automatic caliber with Flying Tourbillon operates at a frequency of 2.5Hz (18,000vph) and can offer up to 72 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement, powered by a micro-rotor made of platinum, is equipped with an escapement wheel, anchor, and balance spring made of silicon.
Adding to the standard (not limited edition) collection, the Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon in Blue & Gold comes with a velvet patterned blue rubber strap and an 18K pink gold/blue PVD titanium folding clasp. The list price for the model is CHF 63,500.
