Ulysse Nardin is under the spotlight with the bronze version of its young model family Marine Torpilleur.
Marine Torpilleur model family is among the latest collections added to the brand’s product group. Inspired by Ulysse Nardin’s strong bond with the seas, the models continue to delight Retro loving watch enthusiasts, especially with their versions mimicking the Military Watch style timepieces. The model family, which is highly acclaimed with its relatively budget-friendly price scale as well, is the guest of our pages with Marine Torpilleur (Ref. 1187-320LE / 63), which attracts attention with its case made of bronze, an alternative material that became sensationally popular for the past few years.
The model, which bears the general design elements of the collection, comes with a bronze case measuring 44mm diameter. The case, which can be comfortably worn on the wrist with its short lugs, has a nostalgic stance with its large winding crown and coin-edge style bezel. Equipped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on the front face and stainless steel (instead of not very skin friendly bronze alloy), Marine Torpilleur (navy destroyer) figure applied solid case back, the case is water resistant to 50 meters / 5 bars.
The model’s dial is designed according to the Marine Chronometer concept, which has become more like an unofficial trademark of the brand. The dial that is finished in a blackish dark blue color features a small second’s counter at 6 o’clock with the watch’s individual serial number and C.W. (Initials of Chronometer Watch) text representing the model’s C.O.S.C certified movement. Leaf-shaped hands finished in matching matt gold tone accompany the dial that refers to the Military Watch style with large Arabic number indices.
Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur (Ref. 1187-320LE / 63) is powered by the fully manufacture Caliber UN-118, which we are familiar with in different versions of the brand’s current product line. 55 jewels self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and can provide up to 60 hours of power reserve, which is a very efficient figure. The movement, which has received full marks from both the C.O.S.C and the brand’s own performance tests, carries the Diamonsil escapement made of silicon and diamond-based alloy, which is also provided by Ulysse Nardin to the industry.
The model comes with a navy blue calfskin strap and a Ulysse Nardin signed pin buckle from Ulysse Nardin. Limited to 300 units only, the model gets is place in our archive as one of the most successful alternatives in its segment with a MSRP of 8900.00 CHF.
