Vacheron Constantin, one of the heavy hitters of Swiss luxury watchmaking industry, takes its successful model family in the luxury sports watch segment, Overseas Collection, to a new level with a Tourbillon version introduced at the SIHH 2019 exhibition.
Among the novelties introduced at the SIHH 2019 exhibition that we left behind, one of the most memorable models is undoubtedly the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon (Ref. 6000V / 110A-B544). The new model, which brings the successful collection of the famous brand together with Tourbillon, one of the high-end complications of traditional watchmaking, attracted great attention with its stainless steel theme. Let’s take a closer look at this interesting model...
The new model is available in a contemporary Overseas Collection style case measuring 42mm in diameter and 10.1mm in height. Made of stainless steel, which is not a common option for a complication like Tourbillon, the case is equipped with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is water resistant to 50 meters / 5 bars. With its well-balanced lug design and integrated bracelet, the model is quite comfortable on the wrist. Inside the case is a soft iron ring to protect the movement from magnetic fields.
An eye-catching blue tone is preferred for the model’s dial. The dial, which shows different tones of blue under certain angles of light with its sunray surface, is accompanied with baton style indexes and hands. All accents are white tone Super LumiNOVA phosphor material applied for utmost legibility. The Tourbillon cage is located at 6 o’clock.
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon is powered by the manufacrure Caliber 2160 movement. Equipped with a solid gold peripheral oscillating rotor, 30 jewels (188 pieces) self-winding movement beats at a relatively low 2.5Hz (18,000vph) rate as we see on most Tourbillon movements and offers a power reserve of approximately 80 hours when fully wound. Bearing the Geneva Seal like the rest of Vacheron Constantin calibers, the movement is fully enjoyable through the sapphire crystal display case back.
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon comes with three options as a stainless steel bracelet, a navy blue rubber strap and a dark blue alligator leather strap all equipped with patented easy strap change system. The list price for the model is EUR 112,000.
Tourbillon is one of the first things that comes to mind when it is about traditional luxury watchmaking. Due to this, it has almost never been included in the designs that can be described as modern for many years. However, this stylish feature, which has its name printed in the history of watchmaking mostly with the classic dress complication style models made of precious metals, has now found its place in modern designs as well. If you are aiming the top level in luxury sports watch segment, Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon should definitely be in your shopping list.
