Zenith Defy 21 Felipe Pantone (Ref. 49.9008.9004/49.R782)

Zenith brings a different perspective to the traditional and monotonous structure in which the watch industry is stuck in with the new Defy 21 model, exclusively designed in collaboration with the world-famous street artist Felipe Pantone.

Born in 1986, Argentine-Spanish contemporary artist Felipe Pantone is known for his works based on kinetic art, large-size installations, graffiti and design, characterized by the use of bold flashy colors, geometric patterns and Op Art elements. Famous for his combinations with bright, gradient colors (neon colors, white and black) used in TV, 1980s, geometric patterns and color bars, his work is highly appreciated by art lovers and radical design enthusiasts today.

The Zenith - Felipe Pantone partnership comes to life with Zenith's superior automatic chronograph Defy 21 platform. The grid pattern added to the bezel of the black ceramic case designed in 44mm diameter and the "FP # 1" symbols placed in the corners bear the artist's signature. The case, with sapphire crystals on both sides, is waterproof up to 100 meters.

On the perforated dial of the model designed in an "Openworked" style, there are hands, markers and sub-dial rings designed in rainbow colors, also bearing the signature of the artist. The movement components visible through the open areas on the dial also seem to have their share of this characteristic color application. The background of the sub-dials features black/white lines and grid patterns. Finally, the hour and minute hand complete the contradictory theme with their form that resembles a broken image of a flat object in a glass water.

The new model is brought to life by the Caliber El Primero 9004, which we know from the Defy 21 model family. The automatic movement, which features two different escapements, timekeeping (5Hz / 36.000vph) and a 1/100 second chronograph (50Hz / 360.000vph), and a power reserve indicator, offers up to 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
