As the Official Timekeeper and Co-Founder of the cutting-edge racing series, Zenith has announced a new limited edition model exclusively designed for the event.
Among the features of the competition is the selection of all race venues to raise awareness about some aspects of climate change. At the same time, the organization promotes gender equality in motorsport by mandating that all teams consist of male and female drivers who share equal driving duties. Following the Desert X Prix, within the framework of the Island X Prix to be held in Sardegna, Zenith is presenting its second limited edition model, based on the bold and robust evolution of the brand's sporty model family, Defy Extreme.
The new model comes in a modern Defy Extreme style case measuring 45mm x 15.40mm. The sporty case, which consists of carbon and micro-sandblasted titanium components, has sapphire crystals on both sides. The case, which draws a modern and strong image with its large chronograph buttons and screw-in crown, offers sufficient water resistance even for much more than daily use with its 200 meters water pressure resistance value.
The unique model hosts a dial with black/orange themed indexes and faceted hands on a blackened sapphire crystal background. The dial, which successfully supports the modern theme of the model, also promises sufficient legibility in almost any environment with the application of Super-LumiNOVA phosphor material.
The sporty model is powered by the Caliber El Primero 9004 movement, which also gives life to many Defy Extreme models of the brand. The automatic chronograph movement operates at a frequency of 5Hz (36,000vph), which is considered the symbol detail of the El Primero concept and offers a power reserve time of up to 50 hours when fully wound. The chronograph function, which can measure 1/100 sec., takes this feature from the chronograph escapement that beats at an astonishing 50Hz (360,000vph).
The model, which is limited to only 20 pieces, is accompanied by a velcro strap that supports the black and orange theme. The list price for the model is CHF 26,900.
