Zenith introduced the new version of its A3818 model aka the ‘Cover Girl’.
Zenith, the inventor of the automatic chronograph movement, brought the 1970s El Primero model back to watch enthusiasts. The A3818 model, which was called the 'Cover Girl' as it was on the cover of the book named 'Swiss Watch Production Since 1865' regarding the history of the brand, is reunited with its fans with a limited edition of 100 units Revival model.
The original version, which adorned the cover of Manfred Rössler's book about Zenith, is assumed to be produced 1000 units only. Let me add that, this precious watch finds buyers a little under 10,000 USD at auctions.
One of the biggest features that distinguished the original Zenith A3818 from the previous El Primero models was its dial. Instead of the three-color chronograph sub-dials or high-contrast panda dials, which were among the signatures of the brand, the A3818 had a textured blue dial. This feature, which was rare for 1971, is also present in the Revival model as well. The Revival A3818 model preserves gray and black colors, which are positioned as an alternative to each other on the lower dial rings with the matte finish of the dial, as well as the 'pyramid' second hand.
All the components of Zenith Revival A3818's 37mm diameter and faceted designed stainless steel case, including the piston style pushers, remained true to the original model. Unlike the original A3818, the case back has a sapphire crystal display. The case features a double anti-reflection coated sapphire crystal on the front and is water-resistant to 50 meters.
Zenith Revival A3818 beats with the automatic chronograph movement, El Primero 400 Automatic, which provides a minimum of 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
A stainless steel ‘ladder’ type bracelet, a modern interpretation of Gay Fréres bracelets that marked a period, complements the new model. With a price tag of 8,690 CHF, Zenith Revival A3818 comes with the book 'Swiss Watch Production Since 1865'.
