Zodiac, a well-known Swiss brand operating under the giant watchmaker Fossil Group, introduced a re-make of its legendary dive watch Super Sea Wolf 68. Based on the Sea Wolf model issued in 1968 and made a great success immediately, the new model delivers brilliantly arranged details that represents the brand’s DNA successfully.
Introduced back in 1953, Zodiac Super Sea Wolf is one of the first dive watches among the iconic Rolex Submariner and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms models. The model, which is considered a cult model for the watch enthusiasts due to its heavy use by servicemen during the Vietnam War, continues to be pursued by many watch collectors.
The brand, which continues to operate under the Fossil Group’s roof, introduced a re-make of its 1968 version Super Sea Wolf. The new model that delivers signature details of the historic Super Sea Wolf Collection with contemporary updates also attracts attention with its relatively affordable price tag.
Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 68 comes in a stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter and 16mm in height, that is water resistant to an impressive 1000 meters like the original version. Equipped with a uni-directional diver’s bezel that can only be rotated by pressing first in order to prevent accidental turns, the elliptical case features a scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front side.
The new model is offered with a sunray finish gray dial that is accompanied with orange accents. The date display is located at 3 o’clock and comes with a white font over black background disc. The dial is equipped with model family’s signature style hands and indices, which are Super LumiNOVA phosphor material applied for optimal legibility at any environment.
Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 68 is powered by the Fossil Group’s COSC certified self-winding Caliber STP 3-13 which offers 40 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The model is offered with a selection of three strap/metal bracelet options including a mesh bracelet and a Velcro strap as well as a tropical rubber strap.
The list price for the model limited to only 68 units is $ 1,995 (US list).
