Girard Perregaux crowns its collaboration with its new brand partner, Aston Martin, with the Tourbillon Three Flying Bridges — Aston Martin Edition, which brings the glorious past of the brand to the present.
The undeniable bond between watches and automobiles continues to strengthen with new brand partnerships in the industry. These two industries, which share common values with their structures that can offer technology and tradition together as well as their purpose of existence, gather watch and automobile enthusiasts under the same roof. The newest collaboration in this lane comes to life with the well-established Swiss watch manufacturer Girard Perregaux and the famous British super sports automobile brand Aston Martin. The two brands, whose success and expertise in their respective fields are indisputable, celebrate this cooperation with a brand new limited edition timepiece.
Girard Perregaux, which has made a big break with the renewed collection of the Laureato model in recent years, includes symbol elements that carry the magnificent past of the brand to the present in its new model. However, while doing this, high-tech details that represent the future-looking face of both brands carry the spirit of Aston Martin to the wrists.
The new model comes in a simple but large case with a diameter of 44mm and a height of 15.52mm. The case is made of matte and shiny DLC coated Grade 5 titanium alloy. Featuring a box-type sapphire crystal on the front and a sapphire crystal display case back at the rear, the case is water-resistant to 30 meters. GP signed winding crown is also finished in black.
The model's skeleton-style dial features three bridges, which are considered signature details for GP. The components in the dial, designed in partnership with Aston Martin, are made of titanium with black PVD coating, just like super sports cars. The dial, designed based on the brand's modern Neo-Tourbillon concept, draws attention with its simple layout and symmetrically placed components. These components, which are placed from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock, take their places as the barrel, gear train, and one-minute Tourbillon, respectively. Let us remind you that the total weight of the Tourbillon, which consists of 79 parts, is only 0.25gr. On the modern dial, the time is displayed with hour markers and thick hands filled with Super-LumiNOVA. There is also a small seconds counter on the tourbillon.
The new model beats by the Caliber GP09400-1683, designed and produced entirely in-house. The automatic movement, which is wound by a micro-rotor placed beneath the barrel, consists of a total of 260 parts, 27 of which are jewels. The movement, which draws attention with its 42mm x 9.45mm size as well as its unique architecture, operates at a frequency of 3Hz (21600vph) and offers a power reserve time of up to 60 hours when fully wound.
Girard Perregaux Tourbillon Three Flying Bridges — Aston Martin Edition is worn on a black alligator strap with a rubber effect that is secured by a folding buckle in Grade 5 titanium with black DLC coating. Also included in the box set is a calf leather strap with a “Rubber Alloy” band, an innovative rubber insert injected with white gold – a world premiere.
The model, which is limited to only 18 pieces, is available with a special box with mirrors and a sticker price of CHF 129.100.
