Grand Seiko, which became well-known as the premium brand of Seiko and has started to stand on its own feet in recent years, introduced two new limited models inspired by nature. Spring Drive 5 Days "Tree-Rings" from the model family, which combines Grand Seiko's production philosophy, known for superior craftsmanship and advanced technology movements, with designs inspired by nature.
The model family, which has just joined the product line, is designed to celebrate the 140th anniversary of Seiko. Spring Drive 5 Days "Tree-Rings", one of the models that continue Grand Seiko's interest in Japan's natural beauties at full speed, is limited to 140 pieces, to highlight this special occasion.
The new model comes in a 18K pink gold case measuring 40mm in diameter and 11.8mm in height. The beautiful case, finished with the brand-specific Zaratsu technique, is waterproof up to 100 meters. Sporting scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides, the case stands out with its simple yet sporty lines, which we are familiar with from modern Grand Seiko models.
Grand Seiko continues its trend of design elements inspired by nature in this new model as well. Inspired by the image on the outer surfaces of trees, the dial is in perfect harmony with the pink gold case and components with its brown background tone. Frankly, it is necessary to see the watches live to understand how successful those details unique to Grand Seiko are. However, even the promotional photos are enough to give an idea about the beauty of the dial. The dial with thick markers and triangular hands has a date window at 3 o'clock.
The model is powered by the manufacture Caliber 9RA2 movement. Designed with the brand’s patented Spring Drive principle, the movement stands out with its 5 days/120 hours power reserve time when fully wound. Equipped with the brand's Offset Magic Lever technology, the movement impresses with its monthly accuracy of ±10 seconds.
Grand Seiko Spring Drive 5 Days "Tree-Rings" Ref. SLGA008 comes on a brown alligator strap and a 18K pink gold GS signed folding clasp.
The model, which is scheduled to be available in Grand Seiko boutiques and other selected sales points as of November 2021, carries a price tag of EUR 50,000.
