Hublot reunites art and watchmaking with the Classic Fusion Chronograph Shepard Fairey, its second collaboration with the American artist.
Hublot presents the third piece of art for 2021 in the Classic Fusion Chronograph Shepard Fairey model. The work of Fairey, a painter, graphic designer, DJ, illustrator, urban artist, skateboard lover, and also the founder of OBEY Clothing, known under the pseudonym Obey, is based on street art.
Among Fairey's best-known works are the Obama Hope poster, an iconic image from Barack Obama's 2008 election campaign, and the Liberté, égalité, fraternité poster, which the country created as a symbol of hope for France after the terrorist attacks. As a Hublot ambassador since 2018, Fairey's work has been exhibited in major museums around the world such as the Smithsonian in Washington, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the MoMa in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
On his second adventure with Hublot, Fairey decided to bring to life a piece symbolizing a mandala, an ornamental sculpture representing harmony, life cycle, elements, and the precious nature of time.
The new model is based on the Classic Fusion Chronograph 45mm platform. Fairey's engravings stand out in the 45mm diameter titanium case and components. The case, with sapphire crystals on the front and back, is waterproof up to 50 meters.
The dial of the model features a highly detailed mandala motif. Fairey's "Star Gear" emblem is located at the center of the dial, which makes the movement partially visible with its skeleton-style structure.
The model, which is limited to only 50 units, is powered by the automatic chronograph Caliber HUB1155, which offers 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The model, completed with a black rubber strap and Hublot signed stainless steel folding clasp, is available at CHF 20,900.
