Introduced A Revolutionary Technology for Quartz: Conquest V.H.P.

Longines, which we have seen so much in time-keeping activities, have introduced the new generation of "Very High Precision" technology, which plays an important role in the brand’s history, to the whole world through an exclusive event held at the Neuchatel Observatory.

The closeness of Longines to Quartz movements is known by many watch enthusiasts. The first Quartz movement watch they developed in 1954 had many precision records in measurements at the Neuchatel Observatory where the event took place. The success story of Longines, which succeeded in making the first wristwatch with a Quartz movement, which went into mass production in 1969, continued to consolidate with the Quartz movement concept, which we saw in Conquest V.H.P. in 1984, breaking the accuracy records of those years.

Today, we are witnessing the introduction of the Conquest V.H.P model to the world, which features the caliber that has been developed by ETA exclusively for Longines. In addition to offering a great accuracy with an annual deviation of ± 5 seconds only, it also has a technology called gear position detection (GPD) that can reset the watch’s arms when exposed to magnetic force. Long battery life and integrated Perpetual Calendar features are also available at Conquest V.H.P.

Joined by approximately 100 specially invited press members, the event turned in to a very exclusive occasion with the participation of the brand’s CEO - Walter von Kanel and the Marketing Director -Juan-Carlos Capelli. I can say that the sympathetic personality of Mr. Walter von Kanel, who was a guest to Horobox before, made the environment even more enjoyable.

After a short welcoming cocktail, we left our mobile phones with the attendants and moved towards the observatory to make a deeper and more concentrated dive into the world of Conquest V.H.P. I strongly recommend that those who are planning a visit to Neuchatel should see this special building.

A small museum dedicated to the organization was created at the observatory. This environment, which exhibited mechanical and technological innovations over time, made us forget the cold atmosphere of the observatory. Our tour in the observatory continued with the presentation of the new Conquest V.H.P. in a different room. We got detailed information about new technology and timepieces and go back to the area where the organization started with the other guests.

We finally got our mobile phones back and had to see the sample timepieces in person. I think that both models introduced had a simple and classic look. The craftsmanship of the case and the metal bracelet quality reflect the brand’s standards we are accustomed to. The difference of these models, of course, comes with the technology they have. I think +/- 5 seconds annual accuracy, no adjustment required until 2100, a long battery life and a reasonable price are enough reasons to get the Conquest V.H.P. Among those features, let me remind you that Conquest V.H.P sports a low-battery indication and requires no extra setting for 6 months even if its battery is dead.

Longines, which is always in the world of Quartz movements, announced all watch aficionados that it will stay in the game in the coming days with this innovation. We were happy for being able to witness this special occasion with other respected invitees and we sent our love to all the Longines family.

Let’s take a look at the models introduced:
