IWC introduced the titanium version of its flagship model from the new generation Ingenieur Collection.

The Ingenieur Collection, one of the most important product groups of IWC, was renovated in 2016 replacing the luxury sports watch character inherited from Gerald Genta with retro looking timepieces inspired by the 1960s models. The flagship model of the collection, which decorated the IWC catalogs with three-hand automatic and chronograph versions, was the Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Gold model that attracted attention with its complicated movement and 18K red gold case.

The same model is now re-introduced with a lighter (in terms of both weight and price) new version, Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Titanium.

The new model is offered with a 45mm X 17.4mm case. Technically the same with the previous version, the new case is made of ultra-light Grade 5 titanium alloy. Equipped with a screw-in crown, flat chronograph pushers and scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides, the case is water resistant to 120 meters.

The new version also features the same dial design with the 18K red gold model. However, this time, anthracite tone was preferred for the background, which matches the titanium case nicely. I addition to digital style date and month indicators, the dial display the readings for the leap year and chronograph functions. Hands and indices are Super-LumiNOVA phosphor material applied.

One of the most important details of the model is undoubtedly the movement inside. Developed on the brand’s modern chronograph platform 89XXX, Caliber IWC 89801 operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers up to 65 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Enjoyable through the transparent case back, the 51 jewels self-winding movement is equipped with hours, minutes, small seconds, QP with large double-digit date and month, leap year, chronograph with co-axial hour and minute counter functions and an 18K red gold oscillating rotor.

The new model comes on a black leather strap that is secured by an IWC signed folding clasp made of titanium.

Limited to 100 units only, the MSRP for the IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Titanium (Ref. IW381802) is EUR 41,500.
