The IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph continues to be one of the most sought-after models of the collection since its introduction. The model we have here comes in partnership with the famous British swimwear brand Orlebar Brown.
Before moving on to the model, let's give brief information about Orlebar Brown. The brand was born when Creative Director Adam Brown realized that there was a disconnect between what well-dressed men usually wear for socializing and what they prefer for environments such as the sea or pool. Brown decided to design stylish swimsuits, and included tailor-made details such as side tab adjusters and a four-part shaped waistband in his designs. The brand, which offers a wide range of products to its customers with its collections renewed every year, emphasizes how confident it is in its products with a 5-year warranty.
The model, which is the guest of our review corner, has the mutual features of the Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph in general but also includes details that refer to its brand partner Orlebar Brown.
The model comes in a 44.6mm diameter and 14.4mm thick case. The stainless-steel case sports with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides. The sporty case, which is resistant to 60m water pressure, is accompanied by piston-style chronograph buttons and thick crown protection guards, which are among the classic details of the model family.
The new model comes with a blue dial designed following the marine theme. The dial, arranged in Bi-Compax chronograph style, has sub-dials at 12 and 6 o'clock positions. There is Super-LumiNOVA phosphor filling in rhodium-plated Arabic numeral indices and leaf style hands. The dial, which provides optimum legibility with its clean layout, is accompanied by stylish details such as a white-background sub-dial and a red chronograph second hand that highlight the sporty theme of the model. The date window, located at 6 o'clock, performs its task without breaking the integrity of the dial with its white-background disc.
Inside the case is the manufacture movement Caliber IWC 89361. The automatic movement, which features the Flyback Chronograph in addition to the hour, minute, and small seconds functions, operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.2800vph) and offers a power reserve time of up to 68 hours when fully wound.
