Longines, which is known as one of the most profitable brands in the Swiss Watch Industry, is welcomed in our Hands On corner with its Master Collection Moonphase Ref. L2.773.4.78.3 featuring a handful of complications and a budget friendly price tag.
Continuing its sponsorships and official time keeping duties within several titles of sports like tennis, skiing, archery, gymnastics and riding along advertisement campaigns with world known athletes, preparing to be the official time keeper of the “ International Racing Festival “ which will we run on 4th of September at the Veliefendi Hippodrome by Jockey Club of Turkey. The winner will be awarded with a Longines Master Collection Moonphase.
Master Collection product line features two different models with case diameters as 40mm and 42mm. The version we have here is the 42mm ( Ref. L2.773.4.78.3 ) one which we believe is the most versatile model with its optimal size.
The stainless steel bezel has 42mm diameter and features sapphire crystals on both sides. The watch is rated with 30M water resistance.
The silver colored dial of the watch features the “barley-grain” pattern which suits nicely with the dressy and elegant character of the watch. The layout of the dial is arranged perfectly as it features many complications without comprising the legibility. The watch sports a chronograph function along day, date and month displays accompanied with a moon phase indicator. Considering all those functions are offered in a 42mm diameter case, we can say that the dial is very cleverly designed.
All those functions are powered with the Longines Caliber L678 which is based on the famous ETA Valjoux 7751 movement. The caliber beats at 28800vph and offers 48h power reserve when fully wound. The movement and its Valjoux 775X classic wobbling rotor can be seen through the sapphire caseback.

The watch is offered on a brown crocodile strap which nicely fits with the overall look. The strap is secured with a Longines signed stainless steel folding clasp.
Longines Master Collection Moonphase is also offered on a stainless steel bracelet as well. Interestingly, both two versions share the same list price.
