Oris updates its cult model Big Crown Pointer Date with a brand new in-house movement. The model, which was introduced at the 5th Dubai Watch Week (2021) event, draws attention with its 10-year movement guarantee.
Oris, which has won the appreciation of watch lovers with its excellent models, especially in the entry and mid-level Swiss mechanical watches segment, is adding a new version to its model family, Big Crown Pointer Date, which deserves the cult title not only for the brand but also for the world of watches in general. Let's take a closer look at the new model, which includes minor technical and cosmetic touches as well as the brand new in-house movement.
The new model comes with a 38mm diameter case, which is sized in harmony with the retro theme that inspires the collection. The stylish case, designed under the influence of compact and elegant models that have recently regained the value and popularity they deserve, is made of stainless steel. Equipped with a large winding crown signed by Oris, the symbol of the model family, the case has scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides.
Inside the retro case, the elegant dial designed with a navy blue background takes its place. Large numeral indices and thick hands accompany the "vintage pilot's watch" style dial. The dial, which features a small seconds counter at 6 o'clock, also houses the pointer-style date display that gives the collection its name.
The movement, Caliber 403, which can be considered the most significant innovation of the new model, impresses with its 5-day / 120-hour power reserve when fully wound. With its 10-year warranty period, the automatic movement, which is a candidate to upset the balance of the industry, can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back.
The standard, i.e. non-limited model, is offered for sale with a quick-change black leather strap and steel buckle. The list price for the model is CHF 3,100.
