The road to victory in the 36th America's Cup passes through the Prada Cup Challenger Selection Series to be held in January - February 2021, off the city of Auckland, New Zealand. The new Luminor Luna Rossa contributes to the Luminor collection with its technical and aesthetic features as well as the innovative material (Scafotech) used in its design. This innovative and sustainable alloy is made of carbon fiber sourced from the hull of the Italian team's yacht AC75. Carbon fibers are recycled and forged into a high-tech polymer and used in the watch dial. Scafotech gives a unique look to every watch dial thanks to its mottled texture. The second sub-dial of Luminor Luna Rossa GMT - 42mm and the triangular ends of the GMT hands are decorated with the iconic colors of the Prada logo. Large numbers, markers, and hands offer optimum legibility with the green luminescent Super-LumiNOVA.
This feature of Scafotech is also carried by the Carbotech substance developed by the teams of Panerai Laboratorio di Idee and used in the watch bezel. Features such as lightness, resistance to pressure, and abrasion together with innovative materials in its structure make Luna Rossa GMT - 42mm resistant to all kinds of extreme situations. The model, which is resistant to water pressure up to 100 meters, comes with a titanium case with sandblasting technique.
