Parmigiani Fleurier, one of the youngest names in the Swiss watch industry, is under the spotlight with its Pershing 005 model, which has been mentioned most often with its unique and bold design.
Established in 1996 by Michel Parmigiani in Fleurier - Switzerland, the brand is very successful despite the fact that it is quite young in terms of watch industry. The brand, deserving the title of "manufacture", is not only producing its own in-house movements today, but also supplies various components to the watch brands in the sector.
Today, we have the brand’s highly acclaimed Fleurier Pershing 005 model for a detailed review. Listed under the Pershing series known for its sporty design models in the Parmigiani Fleurier collection, the model is offered in a 45mm x 14.2mm stainless steel case. On the back of the case, where the front surface sports an AR coated scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, there is a solid caseback made of stainless steel with a very stylish yacht engraving. The 660 FEET indication represents the water resistance rating of the model, and is also noted on the caseback which is fixed to the case with 8 miniature screws.

The signed winding crown and the chronograph pusher are located on the right side of the case. The rubber material used on the pushers complete the stylish and sporty image of the timepiece successfully.
On the front side of the case, there is a uni-directional diver-type bezel. The rubber fillings applied to the symbols on the brushed stainless steel bezel reveal the brand’s attention to workmanship and design integrity.
The authentic and bold details that dominate the timepiece are immediately noticeable on the dial. Despite being distant to the Tool Watch concept, we can still define this model as a diver’s chronograph. The dial features 3-6-9 chronograph lay-out with a date display located within the sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position. The anthracite surface with the SunBurst effect changes its color according to the light angle. The unique hand set is easily noticed thanks to its wide arrow style design, and is accompanied with a combination of Arabic and marker type indices.
The model is powered by the brand’s in-house Caliber Ref. PF334. Self-winding chronograph movement, beats at 28800vph, and offers a power reserve of 50 hours when fully wound. The movement, made of 303 individual parts (and 68 jewels), features Côtes de Genève motif-decorated bridges. Unfortunately, the movement cannot be seen due to the solid stainless steel caseback.
The Parmigiani Fleurier Pershing 005 comes on a black rubber strap. The strap, which I think is a little difficult to balance the thick and heavy case of the watch, promises a more comfortable use than the version with a stainless steel bracelet. The strap is secured by a signed folding clasp made of stainless steel with both satin brushed and mirror polished parts.
Despite its young age, Parmigiani Fleurier has been able to meet the most important criteria of traditional watchmaking with its unique designs, superior workmanship, and high-quality materials. The Pershing 005 model, which blends the brand’s slowly forming DNA with bold and sporty lines, is taking its place in the collection as a very successful alternative for users who likes to stay off the generic designs and appreciates a bold wrist presence.
