Patek Philippe presented the second part of the 2021 new models to watch lovers with a live launch featuring the brand's CEO, Thierry Stern. Among the novelties introduced was Calatrava, which is one of the symbol product groups of the brand.
The cult model family, which was introduced to the brand's catalogs for the first time in 1932 with Ref: 96, now has both a new design and a brand new movement. Redesigned for 2021 novelties, Calatrava once again brings the Clous de Paris detail, which is considered a classic not only for Patek Philippe but for all Swiss watchmaking.
The new series comes with a 39mm diameter case, a first in the history of Calatrava. This width, which brings the legendary model family closer to modern times than ever before, pairs up with 8.1mm total thickness without compromising comfort. The case with sapphire crystals on both sides is available in 18K white and rose gold options.
The new model, which preserves its classic character, comes with a silvery dial and brown alligator strap in the 18K rose gold version, and a charcoal gray dial and black alligator strap combination in the 18K white gold model. Both options include standard buckles manufactured following the case material.
The new model family comes to life with the newly developed Caliber 30‑255 PS. Sharing the same 2.55mm total height as its predecessor Caliber 30‑255 PS, the hand-wound movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers 65 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The 27-jewel/164-piece movement, has modern features such as double barrel and hacking seconds (seconds hand that stops when you pull the crown), unlike its predecessor, despite its unchanging thickness.
The list price for the new models is EUR 25,800.
