Piaget, which was a guest at our pages with the Altiplano Ultimate 910P model that became the world’s thinnest self-winding watch, is under the loupe once again with the Piaget Polo S Chronograph Stainless Steel model from the up to date Polo S collection that was introduced two years ago.

In 2016, the Polo S, which was included in the Piaget product line with its updated face, was the focus of the day with different comments of from the watch enthusiasts. Having an important place in the world of watches with successful examples of ultra-fine movement and timepieces, Piaget once again participated in the league of the modern "luxury sport watches" with its face lifted Polo S Collection.

We have the Polo S Chronograph Stainless Steel version from the collection which was criticized for being very similar to the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Aquanaut models.

The model comes in a stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter and 11.4mm in height. The case, which combines matt and polished surfaces, wears slightly smaller thanks to its short lugs and thick matt brushed bezel. The case is equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is water resistant to 100 meters –an adequate value for daily use. As expected from a brand like Piaget, the finishing of the case is flawless.

The Piaget Polo S Chronograph Stainless Steel features a blue dial which was a booming color for dials back in 2016. The craftsmanship of the dial is Piaget standard with applied and beveled hour markers. The blind like surface pattern is crafted beautifully proving quality of workmanship.

The dial lay-out is in Bi-Compax chronograph style. Super LumiNOVA applied hands and hour markers offer optimum legibility at almost any occasion. The date display is located at the 6 o’clock at the dial which offers quite a simple design in terms of dial texts.

Piaget Polo S Chronograph Stainless Steel comes in two dial options as white and blue. I personally think that the blue dial completes the model much more successfully.

The model is powered by the in-house Caliber 1160P. Self-winding movement beats at 4Hz and offers 50 hours of power reserve. In addition to the time keeping feature, the movement sports an integrated column wheel and a date display. Caliber 1160P can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal caseback.

Piaget Polo S Chronograph Stainless Steel model can be chosen in two options as leather strap and stainless steel bracelet. The model I chose for the review comes with a blue alligator strap and a Piaget signed stainless steel folding clasp. Again, my personal preference is exactly this configuration because I think the blue strap matches with the blue dial perfectly. In everyday use, stainless steel bracelet will definitely be more comfortable, but I have to admit that the similarity with Patek Philippe Nautilus becomes obvious when metal bracelet and blue quadrant come together.

I pretty much liked the watch. As I mentioned previously, the luxury sports watch concept is one of the trending topics. Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak are still the first names that come to mind in this group. And Vacheron Constantin Overseas comes right behind them. Piaget Polo S Chronograph Stainless Steel surely offers the best price/performance ratio among all alternatives ratio, especially considering the chronograph function. But if you are a sensitive about the uniqueness of the design, the undeniable similarity with the Patek Philippe Nautilus could likely be a deal breaker.
