One of the most noteworthy innovations that Rolex introduced under Baselworld 2017 was the new versions added to the Sky-Dweller model family.
In addition to the newly launched 18K yellow gold and stainless steel version, the Sky-Dweller collection also includes a bezel stainless steel version with a white gold fluted bezel. Thanks to those newly added models, the collection is approachable than ever in terms of pricing since its first introduction in 2012. Sky-Dweller was always the subject of polarized comments among the fans of the brand and it seems the new versions will continue in the same way.
In the meantime, let’s give some information about the Sky-Dweller model. The model added to the Rolex catalogs for the first time in 2012 also carries the title of being the most complicated clock of the brand until now. The model is powered by the Caliber Ref. 9001. The self-winding movement sports annual calendar and second time zone features. Adjustment of those features is done via the crown and rotating bezel. Sky-Dweller is offered in a 42mm diameter case made of solid gold only until this year.
The new additions to the collection include Ref. 326933, which is referred to as Yellow Rolesor in Rolex terminology. Personally I can say that I find the watch very successful. The "Two Tone" concept, which I accepted as one of the most successful styles of the brand with wrist presence, versatile usage and relatively affordable price, seems to be very suitable for Sky-Dweller. Besides the champagne dial version that we had the opportunity to see during the press conference, there are two more dial options as white and dark grey. MSRP of the model is CHF 16,300,00.
The other new addition to the Sky-Dweller family is called White Rolesor. In fact, I think there is a slight confusion because the Rolesor designation points to the combination of stainless steel and gold material. The models in that concept aka Two Tone generally features solid gold winding crowns and bracelet center links along the bezel. However, Sky-Dweller Ref. 326934 sports a white gold fluted bezel only. So if we leave the Rolex terminology aside, this is a stainless steel version.
The version we have seen during the press conference had the beautiful white dial that we are familiar with different Rolex models. The blue dial looks quite sporty with the red accents and it matches with the stainless steel case nicely. The new hands, which are now longer, and the indices in rectangular shape look more notable than the champagne dial Two Tone version. Besides the blue dial, Ref. 326934 Sky-Dweller is also available with a white and dark grey dial options. The selling price of the model is CHF 13,700.00, which is the most approachable figure that Sky-Dweller family has seen so far.
